Driving early in the morning before sunrise is rather uncommon for most people, but can lead to some devastating car crashes. As a King County personal injury lawyer, I have seen the horrifying results of this scenario too many times. The dangers of nighttime driving are pretty well documented, as I have been mentioned numerous times in this blog, but it should be remembered that early morning driving is equally as dangerous for the same reasons. Visibility is very low, sometimes even worse due to fog, and drunk drivers can be swerving their way back home.
Around 4:00 a.m. this morning, two men were injured in a head-on collision in Renton. Not much is known about the reasons behind the car collision, but pictures of the scene show a disturbing image of both cars being very distorted and crushed. One of the men was seriously injured and is at Harborview Medical Center for treatment, while the other driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center in Renton. Police say that one of the vehicles left his lane and hit the other one, but there is no word yet as to whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
After seeing images of the car collision, I am relieved to hear that the injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening, and I wish both a speedy recovery. When driving at extreme hours of the night or morning, it is very important to still obey the rules of the road, even if it appears as if you are the only one on it. I also urge everybody to consider how awake they are when driving, so you can be as alert as possible.
