David Newton received Premier Law Group “Teacher of the Month” Award

David Newton, a Special Education teacher at Risdon Middle School, was recently selected to receive Premier Law Group’s “Teacher of the Month” award. PLG attorney, Jason Epstein, made a surprise visit to Newton’s “Personal Choices” class to make the announcement. After introducing himself, Epstein joked, “I’m a lawyer, but I promise, no one is in trouble!” The students’ laughter gave way to cheers as he brought out a giant check for $150 made out to their teacher, David Newton. Epstein explained, “You were nominated for making a difference in students’ lives, and this is our way of saying thanks for being an outstanding teacher.”

This is Newton’s sixth year working with students with special needs and his second year working as a Special Education teacher. Currently, he teaches three different special needs classes, a physical education class, and a language arts class. The nomination submitted to PLG highlighted Newton’s hard work and commitment to providing a supportive environment that empowers students to reach their full potential. “He dedicates so much of his time and effort to making sure that his students’ needs are met and helping them learn and grow. His job can be very challenging, but he loves helping his students and being a positive role model who they can come to.”

David Newton embodies all the qualities that Premier Law Group looks for when selecting their “Teacher of the Month” award recipient. The program was started as part of PLG’s ongoing commitment to recognizing the outstanding contributions of King County teachers, as well as their positive impact on our community. Knowing that budgets are tight, and teachers often pay out-of-pocket for supplies, PLG includes a small contribution with the award certificate to help defray their classroom costs. “We want to show our appreciation and give a little something back to teachers, because they play such a vital role in the lives of their students and in our community,” explained attorney Jason Epstein.

If you know a King County teacher who has made a distinct impression or changed someone’s life for the better, nominate them by visiting Premier Law Group’s “Teacher of the Month” webpage and fill out the nomination form. As a bonus, anyone who nominates a teacher who is selected by PLG as “Teacher of the Month” will also receive a $25 Amazon gift card as a thank you for helping to highlight the incredible work being done in our community.
