On Thursday evening around 11 PM, one woman was killed and three others were injured in a three car crash. The driver who caused the incident drove over into oncoming traffic on Pacific Highway South. Her headlights were off, and she was later found to be under the influence of alcohol. Her four year old son was in the car with her at the time. The woman struck a Honda Civic head-on, sending the car flying, and causing a third car to hit it. The driver of the Civic was found dead at the scene. All three of those injured in the accident were taken from the scene to the hospital for treatment. The original driver is to be charged with vehicular homicide. The names of those involved and injured have not been released. Pacific Highway was closed Southbound around the 37000 block for about seven hours while the crash was cleared.
We hope that everyone injured in this accident has speedy recovery, and our thoughts are with the friends and family of the deceased. As a Seattle personal injury attorney, unfortunately I know just how common these drunk driving accidents are. The most tragic thing about them in my opinion is that they are 100% avoidable. You put more than your own life at risk when you choose to get behind the wheel drunk. If you know that you are going to be drinking, plan ahead for your ride home. You never know whose life you might be saving.
