Una fusi\u00f3n lumbar es necesaria cuando uno de los cinco discos inferiores de la columna vertebral se ha desplazado de su lugar, lo que permite que los huesos se froten entre s\u00ed. Este fragmento de hueso se utilizar\u00e1 para asegurarse de que las v\u00e9rtebras se separen correctamente. Una vez que el cirujano tenga el fragmento de hueso necesario, extraer\u00e1 el disco que est\u00e1 causando problemas y lo reemplazar\u00e1 con el fragmento.
