As a Seattle car accident attorney and Bellevue personal injury lawyer, I am well acquainted with the fact that car accidents can happen in a multitude of ways. Most of the time accidents involve 2 or more cars, but with the amount of distractions now available for drivers, single car crashes are becoming more and more common. When people use their smart phones, iPads, or any other distracting device in their car, they put both themselves and others in danger.
On Sunday, January 23rd a single car crash happened in the afternoon. The cause is uncertain and is undergoing further investigation. A 29 year-old Kingston woman was driving through an intersection in North Kitsap where Eglon Road crosses through Hoffman Road. Her vehicle left the street and struck a utility pole causing it to break and wires to fall down around the vehicle. When the North Kitsap Fire Department arrived on the scene, the woman was trapped inside of her car. With the use of special equipment, they were able extricate the woman from the wreckage. She was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center with multiple injuries.
The cause of the accident is uncertain, but there are two broad possibilities for how it happened. The accident could have been caused by something outside of the driver’s control, such as a mechanical malfunction in the car, or a poorly maintained road. On the other hand, it is possible that the driver was distracted in some way, and is fully responsible for the accident. Either way, accidents like these prove how dangerous it can be to drive a car, and why we should always be alert and aware of our surroundings on the road.
