Three people are in the hospital following a nasty crash that took place just after 1 this morning in Mill Creek. A Mountlake Terrace police officer was one of the injured. He had been intending to set up a spike strip on the road to stop a Jeep Cherokee who was being pursued by another patrol car. Instead, he was hit by the Cherokee, his vehicle spinning out of control. The Cherokee flew off the road, into a curb and then vaulted into the air. It then hit a power pole, before finally coming to rest on its side and catching fire. The two people in the Cherokee were removed from the vehicle by officers. The driver was a 52-year-old male from Everett and the passenger a 29-year-old female from Lake Stevens. The woman was released from the hospital. The status of the driver is currently unknown. The officer luckily only suffered from minor injuries. He was treated and then released soon after.
Details surrounding the chase have not been released. Washington State Patrol is currently investigating the blazing crash. Criminal charges are also pending. We are glad that nobody was killed or seriously injured as a result of this man’s reckless driving.
