Tacoma Traffic to Get Worse | Seattle Auto Accident Lawyer

Traffic in Tacoma already causes throbbing headaches to drivers and especially daily commuters. But they’re about to see even worse conditions in the coming months. On Saturday at 12:01 AM, Exit 132 A for South 38th Street will officially be closed. And not just for a day or for the weekend. The ramp will remain closed for three months, and when it reopens, a new ramp will be in its place.

The exit, off of I-5 South, currently serves thousands of drivers. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) puts those numbers near 10,000, to be more exact. Popular destinations off of the ramp include Tacoma Mall and Costco.

Drivers are warned that back-ups can be brutal, especially during times with already heavy commuter traffic. Back-ups up to five miles are likely between 6 and 9 in the morning and again at 3 to 6 PM.

Those traveling the freeway won’t be trapped on it. A detour will be put in place. Hopefully the increased traffic and hassle will be worth it when a higher and wider ramp is in place come July.
