With summer vacation in full swing, it’s important that we all do our duty to keep kids safe. Whether it be checking on the neighbor kids playing outside to make sure they are staying hydrated to being a little bit more careful when driving through residential areas, we can all do our part in making sure that accidents like the one that occurred in Bonney Lake late last week don’t happen. Two 12-year-olds were riding their Razor scooters at night when they were struck by a vehicle. They suffered from minor injuries and were taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. Luckily, they were not badly hurt and are expected to be okay.
The driver of the vehicle was reportedly not speeding or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was uninjured. It seems the accident was an unlucky run-in. However, we remind you to make sure your kids wear helmets when riding their scooters and bicycles. Also, set decent curfews for them for when the roads become dark and more dangerous. Remind them to stick to riding on sidewalks on scooters and to obey traffic signals and lights as well as use crosswalks.
