Bellevue Teacher Placed on Leave Following Sexual Molestation and Child Abuse Allegations

On June 13, 2024, the Bellevue School District released a District wide email regarding an investigation into substitute special education teacher, Robert Scroggs, for child molestation. Mr. Scroggs was recently arrested for allegations of child molestation and was immediately placed on administrative leave.

Mr. Scroggs worked for Bellevue School District as a teacher at Newport High School from the 2002-2003 school year through the end of the 2011-2012 school years and again during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years. He worked for the District during the second half of the 2019-2020 school year at Interlake High School. During the 2020-2021 school year, he was assigned to Sammamish High School for two months and Bellevue High School for the second half of the school year.

During the 2023-2024 school year, he served as a substitute at Newport Heights, Somerset, Ardmore, and Phantom Lake Elementary Schools as well as Tyee Middle School, Newport High School, and the Evergreen Transition Center. He also provided additional staff support to Newport Heights, Spiritridge, and Woodridge Elementary School programs during the second half of this year.
