It’s been said that great things come in small packages and it looks like that’s what we’re seeing with the hippest new car to burst into the automotive scene. It’s called the Elio, and looking at its specs, it’s pretty darn cool for more reasons than one.
First off, I know you Pacific Northwesterners are all about the green movement. The Elio gets over 80 miles to the gallon on the highway. That’s practically unheard of. And city driving won’t break the bank either. How does 49 miles to the gallon sound to you? It’s music to my ears. Not only will you be saving money on gas, the Elio itself has a price tag that isn’t too harsh on the eyes. It will only cost $6,800 when it is released next year.
This sounds great and all, but there has to be a catch, right? Well, the Elio is on the small side. It can only hold two passengers, but it keeps those passengers safe. It has three airbags, a reinforced roll-cage frame and an Anti-Lock Braking System according to the vehicle’s website. Elio Motors is expecting it to get a 5-Star safety rating.
The Elio may look a little funny, but that’s what adds to its character. Technically, the Elio is a motorcycle because it only has three wheels, but it’s almost sure to attract car drivers. We’re looking forward to the release of the Elio and what it will bring to the automotive industry.
