A Canadian man is sick with grief after he lost his wife, two young children, mother and sister-in-law were in a horrible accident that took place in Surrey, British Columbia near the U.S.-Canadian border. The family was riding in their mid-size car when a man in a minivan drove through a red light, T-boning their vehicle and tearing it in half. The 46-year-old driver of the minivan survived the wreck and was taken to the hospital in serious condition. He was the only person involved who made it out alive.
It has been reported that charges against the man will most likely occur for his running of the red light. However, investigations into whether he was impaired or not could take months. It was not revealed whether or not drugs or alcohol played a role in the tragic crash. However, speed is believed to be at least partly to blame for the severity of the impact.
Speed limits are posted for a reason. While it is tempting to drive over them, much thought has been put into them and it is highly advisable that you respect them, not only so that you don’t run the risk of getting a ticket, but also so that you can avoid accidents such as these. It is highly likely that this accident could have been avoided had the driver of the minivan been paying attention to the road.
