A drunk driver collides with a Washington Patrol Car  that had just arrested another drunk driver

As an auto accident attorney, I cannot believe that there are still so many people who make the choice to drive drunk. During my time working here at Premier Law Group, I have  dealt with many cases where drunk driving has led to serious injuries or even death for an innocent victim. Oftentimes, drunk driving will lead to property damage like this Kent auto accident from last week. Each kind of case can be devastating in a unique way.

Auburn Drunk Driver Hits Cop Car

Early on Saturday morning, a suspected drunk driver crashed into a Washington State Patrol car on Highway 167 while the trooper was in the process of arresting another driver suspected of drunk driving. The officer had already put the 36-year-old Auburn woman into the backseat of the car and was sitting in the front seat waiting for a tow truck when a BMW crashed into the back of the trooper’s car, which was on the side of the road with its lights flashing. The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to Auburn General Hospital. Both drivers were booked into King County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Luckily this accident did not result in any serious injuries or worse, deaths. With repeat offenders making up about a third of DUI arrests, the current Washington State drunk driving laws are obviously not doing enough to deter people from drinking and driving. The penalties for making the choice to drink and drive should be increased so that people will make the choice to call a cab after drinking rather than get behind the wheel.
