Come next week we could see what the state’s new transportation budget is all about. Lawmakers have reportedly settled on a deal regarding the $8.8 billion transportation budget. Voting will hopefully take place over the weekend.
Projects that will be covered by the budget include $82 million worth of planning money for I-5 over the Columbia. A replacement bridge is in the works. Democrats in the House are asking for a gas tax hike. However, House Republicans are against lawmakers making those final decisions and believe that it should be the choice of the voters.
The Alaskan Way Viaduct tunnel project is at the center of it all, with hundreds of millions of dollars focused around the project.
